TOP OF CARTAGENA, SPAIN

The backdrop for the tour of history is the Spanish-Moorish fortress at Concepcion Hill, the highest hill to protect the city. This site was used for a Roman temple, a Muslim citadel, a medieval castle, and location of the siren warning of Civil War ombings. The top of the hill offers the best view of the city and the harbor

City Information:

"Cartagena is a port city and naval base in the Murcia region of southeast Spain, founded by the Carthaginians around 220 B.C.E. The Muralla PĂșnica interpretation center houses the remains of a 3rd-century B.C.E. defensive wall. Among its many Roman ruins are a 2nd-century B.C.E. theater and Casa de la Fortuna, a villa with murals and mosaics."
Population is some 216,451 people.
